To challenge myself, the following constraints were imposed at the beginning of my creative process:
- I was NOT to use existing 3D digital atlases or prebuilt three-dimensional models from an unverified source as the basis of my drawing. Instead I was to use radiological data and physical models/specimens and use it to create a maquette that would inform the "cut" of my illustration.
- I must subtract or cutaway some aspect of the heart to reveal a relevant aspect of its internal structure.
- The Illustration would firstly be rendered in greyscale then afterwards colourized in Photoshop.
